How many tons are in a yard?

There is approximately 1.6 ton in a yard of stone or gravel. When deciding where to purchase your product, make sure you pay attention to price per ton and price per yard when comparing.

I usually purchase my mulch by the bag. How much will I need in bulk?

14 (2 cubic ft.) bags of mulch is approximately 1 yard of mulch in bulk.

How many square feet does one yard of mulch cover?

One yard of mulch at three inches deep covers approximately 100 square feet.

What type of gravel do I need for my driveway?

73’s, 53’s, and 8’s are the most commonly used for driveways and gravel parking areas.

What is the difference between Screened and Spec 23 sand?

Spec 23 sand is a coarse, brown sand, commonly used for masonry and other construction projects. Screened Sand is fine, yellow sand commonly used in gardens and for pools. Both types of sand work well in sand boxes, depending on the texture you prefer.

Do you sell rubber playground mulch?

We can special order certified rubber playground mulch, but do not currently carry it in stock. Please call us at (219) 261-2861 if you’d like more information.

How much product can I fit in my truck bed?

For a standard short bed truck, you can haul two yards of mulch. For a standard long bed truck, you can haul three yards of mulch. Most trucks can haul 1/2 ton, or 3/4 yard, of gravel, stone, sand, or dirt.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, check, or card. Payment is due at time of pick up or delivery.

I like a product you don’t carry in stock, are you able to get out of stock product?

If you’ve seen a product you want that we don’t carry, please give us a call and we will see if we are able to order the product for you.

Do you charge sales tax?

Yes. If you are tax exempt, please contact our office staff to complete an ST-105 form.
